The SGCA Highlights Emirati Identity campaign category is placing communication at the centre of efforts to preserve Emirati culture, heritage and the Arabic language. The Sharjah Government Communication Award (SGCA), organised by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), is highlighting campaigns that help protect cultural identity and connect younger generations with national values.
The 13th edition features the “Best Campaigns Promoting Cultural Identity and the Arabic Language” category. It includes two subcategories. The newly introduced “Best Campaigns Promoting Emirati Identity” focuses on Emirati heritage, national belonging and the local dialect as important parts of the UAE’s cultural and social identity.
The second subcategory focuses on cultural identity and the Arabic language. It welcomes campaigns from the UAE and beyond that encourage Arabic use in education, culture, media and communities.
Eligible entries can include initiatives that introduce audiences to UAE cultural and historical heritage. Campaigns encouraging the use of Arabic and the local dialect are also eligible. In addition, projects targeting younger generations can highlight Emirati values, culture and heritage.
The SGCA Highlights Emirati Identity initiative also gives importance to measurable results. Participating campaigns should provide evidence of audience impact, awareness and lasting results.
Entries may also explore Arab heritage, Arabic language, social cohesion, tolerance, coexistence and cultural openness. Government entities, international organisations and private-sector institutions can submit relevant campaigns.
The 2026 SGCA edition features 23 categories across five sectors, including Government, International Organisations and Private Sector Awards, Individual Awards, Best Innovators Competition in Smart Communication Awards, Jury Awards and Partner Awards.
