Former IPL chairman Lalit Modi praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his love of cricket. PM Modi cricket passion became clear during their talks about cricket development in Ahmedabad. Lalit Modi said the Prime Minister always wanted better cricket facilities in Gujarat.
Lalit Modi also spoke about the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The stadium is the largest cricket stadium in the world with more than 132,000 seats. He called it the best stadium in India today. However, he said Indian cricket venues should offer a better fan experience.
According to Lalit Modi, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has enough money to build world-class stadiums. He compared Indian stadiums with famous sports venues like Wembley, Lord’s, Camp Nou, Old Trafford, and Etihad Stadium. He believes India should create modern cricket stadiums with top-class comfort and entertainment.
He suggested adding shopping areas, restaurants, food courts, and air-conditioned spaces inside stadiums. He also said stadiums should stay active throughout the year instead of being used only during matches. His goal is to improve the fan experience and make cricket venues more enjoyable for visitors.
The discussion about PM Modi cricket passion started after Lalit Modi’s comments on rebuilding the Narendra Modi Stadium for a more international-level fan experience. He later clarified that he was not criticising the stadium. Instead, he was sharing ideas to improve cricket infrastructure in India.
