A Chandigarh court has directed Salman Khan, Alvira Khan Agnihotri and others to appear on October 5 after a businessman alleged financial losses in a Being Human jewelry venture.

Court Directs All Accused to Appear in October
Bollywood actor Salman Khan, his sister Alvira Khan Agnihotri, and several directors linked to the Being Human jewelry business have been summoned by a Chandigarh district court following a complaint filed by a local businessman over an alleged failed commercial venture.
The court has instructed all named parties to appear on October 5 as it begins hearing the criminal complaint. The proceedings relate to allegations surrounding a Being Human-branded jewelry showroom established in Chandigarh several years ago. At this stage, the court has not examined the merits of the allegations, and no conclusions have been reached regarding the claims.
Businessman Claims Multi-Crore Losses
The complaint was filed by Chandigarh-based entrepreneur Arun Gupta, who alleges that he invested nearly Rs3 crore to establish a Being Human jewelry outlet in Manimajra after entering into an agreement with the company authorized to operate the brand’s jewelry business.
According to Gupta, a substantial portion of the investment went into developing the retail outlet, while the remaining funds were used for inventory, infrastructure and business operations. He claims the venture failed to perform because several commitments made before the investment were allegedly not fulfilled.
The businessman has alleged that inadequate promotional activities, interruptions in product supply and the absence of expected business support caused significant financial losses, eventually forcing the showroom into difficulty.
Dispute Over Promotional Commitments
Among the allegations raised in the complaint is the claim that Salman Khan was expected to inaugurate the showroom as part of promotional commitments linked to the business.
Instead, actor Aayush Sharma, Salman Khan’s brother-in-law, attended the opening ceremony. Gupta has argued that the absence of the Bollywood star affected the visibility of the launch and contributed to the business failing to generate the expected customer response.
The complainant further stated that he repeatedly approached company representatives seeking assistance after business operations began facing challenges. He alleges those efforts did not resolve the issues, leading him to pursue legal action.
Matter Has Been Under Scrutiny Since 2021
The dispute is not a recent development. The matter first came under public attention in 2021, when Chandigarh Police initiated an inquiry following the complaint.
At the time, Salman Khan, Alvira Khan Agnihotri and several officials associated with the jewelry business were asked to cooperate with investigators as police examined the allegations.
Following the investigation, the matter has now progressed into court proceedings, where the complainant’s allegations will be examined through the legal process.
Being Human Previously Rejected Allegations
When the controversy first surfaced, the Being Human Foundation issued a statement distancing itself from the dispute.
The organization maintained that the disagreement involved the jewelry license holder and another private party, adding that neither the foundation nor Salman Khan or Alvira Khan Agnihotri were signatories to the agreement referenced in the complaint.
The statement also clarified that while Salman Khan owns the Being Human brand, he is not a trustee of the charitable foundation operating under the same name. The foundation had also urged media organizations to verify facts before reporting on the matter and stated that it would refrain from commenting while legal proceedings remained ongoing.
Neither Salman Khan nor Alvira Khan Agnihotri has publicly responded following the latest court summons.
Legal Process to Continue
The Chandigarh district court has scheduled the next hearing for October 5, when all individuals named in the complaint are expected to appear before the court.
The hearing will mark the beginning of the judicial process, during which the complainant’s allegations and the responses of the accused will be considered in accordance with law.
For now, the complaint remains an allegation that has yet to be tested before the court, and no findings of guilt or liability have been made against Salman Khan, Alvira Khan Agnihotri or the other parties named in the case.
