Qatar LNG Factory Explosion

The Qatar LNG Factory Explosion killed 13 people at Ras Laffan Industrial City. QatarEnergy confirmed the deaths and said the cause is under investigation. The victims were Indian and Pakistani nationals, based on preliminary information. The company also said the blast did not affect LNG exports. Gas facilities and Ras Laffan Port continue to operate normally.

The explosion happened at a facility in Ras Laffan Industrial City, one of the world’s largest liquefied natural gas hubs. QatarEnergy said a technical investigation is ongoing to find the exact reason behind the incident. The company stressed that there was no disruption to gas production or export operations.

A total of 66 people were injured in the blast. The injured included nationals from Qatar, Tanzania, India, Pakistan, Guinea, Nepal, Bangladesh, Kenya, and Nigeria. Officials said none of the injuries were life-threatening. Emergency teams responded quickly and managed the situation.

The incident came after another explosion at a domestic gas supply facility in Barzan during restart operations. Authorities said emergency crews controlled the fire. Officials have not linked the two incidents, and investigations are continuing.

The Qatar LNG Factory Explosion has drawn attention because Ras Laffan is a key center for global LNG production. QatarEnergy assured international markets that gas exports remain stable despite the accident. The company said it is working to determine the exact cause and will continue to provide updates as the investigation progresses. The focus remains on supporting those affected while ensuring the safe operation of Qatar’s energy facilities.
