ABU DHABI: Abu Dhabi has officially announced that the long-awaited Guggenheim Abu Dhabi will open its doors to the public on December 11, adding another globally recognised institution to the emirate’s rapidly expanding cultural scene. The opening date was confirmed by the Department of Culture and Tourism, Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), marking a major milestone in the emirate’s long-term vision of promoting cultural exchange and artistic excellence. A Landmark Designed by Frank Gehry
Designed by internationally acclaimed architect Frank Gehry, the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi features a bold architectural style that blends modern design with elements inspired by the region’s climate and heritage. Gehry, known for creating iconic museums around the world, envisioned the building as a space that encourages creativity, dialogue and exploration through art.
The museum has been carefully designed to accommodate large-scale exhibitions, immersive installations and educational programmes, offering visitors a unique cultural experience unlike any other in the Middle East.

Part of the Saadiyat Cultural District
Guggenheim Abu Dhabi will become a key addition to the Saadiyat Cultural District, which is rapidly emerging as one of the world’s most important cultural hubs.
The district already includes the internationally acclaimed Louvre Abu Dhabi and will also feature the Zayed National Museum, Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi, and teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi.
