Kriti Sanon patriarchy industry

Kriti Sanon patriarchy industry is once again in the spotlight after the actress openly spoke about gender bias in Bollywood. In a recent interview with GQ India, Kriti shared her personal experiences about unequal pay and different treatment on film sets. She said patriarchy is still deeply rooted in the film industry and change is needed.

The actress revealed that when producers try to reduce a film’s budget, the female lead’s salary is often negotiated first. Kriti explained that a major part of the budget usually goes to the male actor, yet actresses are expected to compromise more. She said this has been a common struggle for many women in cinema.

Kriti Sanon patriarchy industry discussion also included examples of subtle discrimination on movie sets. The actress shared that female actors are often expected to be ready first so male stars do not have to wait. According to Kriti, such behaviour may look normal but reflects deep subconscious bias in the industry.

She also recalled an incident from the early days of her career when a male co-star, who was not senior to her, received a better car on set. Kriti clarified that the issue was not about luxury but about equal respect and treatment for actors regardless of gender.

Kriti Sanon said the industry still has a long way to go in achieving equality. The actress believes conversations about gender parity are important to bring real change in Bollywood.

On the work front, Kriti is currently promoting her upcoming film Cocktail 2, which is scheduled to release on June 19, 2026.
