UAE Qatar Joint Committee meeting took place at the Zayed National Museum in Abu Dhabi on May 6, 2026. H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani co-chaired the seventh session of the meeting. The event showed the strong ties between the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed welcomed the Qatari delegation and praised the deep relations between the two countries. He said both nations continue to work together under the leadership of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. He also stressed the importance of unity and cooperation during the current regional situation.
During the UAE Qatar Joint Committee session, both sides discussed trade, investment, energy, education, health, culture, transport, and environmental cooperation. Sheikh Abdullah revealed that non-oil trade between the UAE and Qatar reached US$13 billion in 2025. He also highlighted the importance of stronger economic integration and supply chain cooperation.
The Qatari Prime Minister said the meeting came at an important time for the Gulf region. He called for stronger diplomatic coordination and joint efforts to support peace, security, and regional stability.
Several agreements and memoranda of understanding were signed during the meeting. These included deals on investment protection, agriculture and food security, and cooperation between Abu Dhabi and Doha municipalities.
The leaders also condemned the Iranian attacks targeting civilian sites in the UAE. They affirmed the UAE’s right to protect its sovereignty and national security under international law.
