Abu Dhabi, UAE: Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of the United Arab Emirates and Muslims around the world after authorities confirmed the beginning of Ramadan on Wednesday.
In a message shared on social media, the UAE President described the holy month as a period of reflection, generosity, and unity. He emphasized the importance of strengthening bonds among families and communities and encouraged values of compassion and solidarity during the sacred time.
The official announcement followed a meeting of the UAE’s moon-sighting committee at Qasr Al Hosn in Abu Dhabi, where the crescent moon was confirmed. The sighting formally marked the start of Ramadan across the country.
Leaders across the Emirates also received congratulatory messages from heads of Arab and Islamic nations, reflecting the spiritual significance of the occasion across the Muslim world. Mosques are expected to welcome large congregations for Taraweeh prayers, while communities prepare charitable initiatives and family gatherings.
Ramadan is observed by fasting from dawn to sunset, along with increased prayer, charity, and community service. Authorities typically introduce special schedules for work hours, schools, and public services to accommodate worship and daily life during the month.
The announcement signals the beginning of one of the most important periods in the Islamic calendar, bringing together worship, generosity, and social connection throughout the UAE.
