UAE Businessman Kidnapping in India: 39-Hour Ordeal Ends in Rescue

UAE businessman kidnapping in India has shocked many after VP Shameer, a Dubai-based entrepreneur, revealed chilling details of his 39-hour ordeal. Shameer, who runs a chain of pharmacies in the UAE, was abducted while visiting his hometown in Kerala. He said he was beaten, choked, and threatened with death unless he paid a ransom of Dh1.5 million.

According to Shameer, the incident was linked to a financial dispute over a restaurant in Al Barsha. In 2023, a UAE court had awarded him Dh675,000 in compensation. He claimed the accused, who faced a travel ban and arrest warrant, joined hands with one of his disgruntled ex-employees to target him.

The UAE businessman kidnapping in India began near his home when a white SUV blocked his motorcycle. Several men forced him inside the vehicle, assaulted him, and demanded he withdraw the case. For nearly two days, he was moved across Kerala in different cars while the captors lowered their demands to Dh800,000.

Shameer said he feared for his life as the kidnappers threatened to kill him once they crossed into Tamil Nadu. However, Kerala Police launched a high-speed chase. And rescued him from Kollam, more than 300 km away from the abduction site.

Grateful for the rescue, Shameer praised the police for working tirelessly through the night, splitting into squads and tracking down the kidnappers. “It felt like the longest 39 hours of my life,” he said.
