Salik fine dispute: A simple guide to getting a refund

If you’ve received a Salik fine and believe it’s a mistake, you can file a dispute to potentially get a refund, even if the violation has already been paid for. Here’s a straightforward guide to contesting a Salik violation and getting your money back if you have a valid case and supporting evidence.

Act Quickly: Filing Deadline

You must file your dispute within 13 months of the violation issuance date, according to Salik’s terms and conditions.

How to Dispute a Salik Fine: Step-by-Step

You have three main options to contest a Salik violation:

  • Visit salik.ae and select ‘Violations and Disputes’.
  • Enter your car number plate details and click ‘Search’.
  • Select the fine you want to dispute and enter your traffic file number.
  • Provide details of the dispute, including time, location, and reason.
  • Submit the application.
  1. Through Mobile Apps
  • Smart Salik App
    • Open the app, go to ‘Violations and Disputes’, and enter your car details.
    • Select the violation, fill in the dispute form, and submit.
  • Dubai Drive App
    • Log in with UAE Pass, select ‘Salik’, and then ‘Violations and Disputes’.
    • Enter your car details, select the violation, and file the dispute.
  • Dubai Now App
    • Log in with UAE Pass, go to ‘Driving’, and select ‘Salik Accounts’.
    • Navigate to ‘Violations and Disputes’ and submit your dispute.
  1. Through Salik Call Centre
  • Call 800 72545.
  • Choose your language, then select ‘5’ for violations and disputes, and ‘2’ to dispute.
  • Provide your car number plate and violation details to the call centre agent, who will register your case.

After Filing a Dispute

You’ll receive a ‘dispute number’ within two working days, which you can use to track the status of your case. The Salik team will review your dispute, and a decision will be made within 15 days. You’ll receive the result via email and SMS.

Refunding Paid Salik Violations

If your dispute is successful and a paid fine is to be refunded, you’ll need to submit an electronic refund form at a Salik Customer Happiness Centre. Here are the locations and operating hours:

  • Umm Ramool Customer Happiness Centre
  • Marrakesh Street, Umm Ramool
  • Monday to Thursday: 8am – 7:30pm; Friday: 8am – 12pm
