Sharjah cultural impact was clearly seen at the Warsaw International Book Fair 2026. Sharjah became the first Arab Guest of Honour in the history of the fair. The event lasted for four days and brought Emirati and Arab culture closer to Polish audiences. The programme included literature, arts, heritage, and academic discussions across Warsaw.
The participation reflected the cultural vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi. Under the leadership of Her Highness Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Sharjah continues to grow as a global centre for books, publishing, and culture. Sharjah cultural impact was visible through 35 cultural events and the participation of 36 writers, poets, artists, and creatives from the UAE and Poland.
His Excellency Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, CEO of the Sharjah Book Authority, said the event showed how culture connects people through dialogue and understanding. He added that Polish audiences showed strong interest in Emirati literature, Arab heritage, and cultural experiences from the UAE. The event also created new opportunities in translation, publishing partnerships, and rights exchange.
Jacek Oryl, Director of the Warsaw International Book Fair, praised Sharjah’s outstanding participation. He said the programme went beyond a normal book fair and became a rich cultural experience for visitors and institutions alike.
Sharjah cultural impact also reached universities, theatres, and public venues across Warsaw. Emirati and Polish artists shared poetry, music, visual arts, and traditional crafts. The pavilion displayed six Arabic books translated into Polish and sold 280 books during the fair, showing growing interest in Arab literature and Emirati culture.
