Sharjah Institute for Heritage showcased Emirati culture and heritage at the Warsaw International Book Fair 2026. The event took place from May 28 to May 31 in Warsaw, Poland. Sharjah participated as the guest of honour, highlighting the emirate’s growing role in global cultural exchange. The participation helped strengthen international cooperation in heritage preservation and cultural awareness.
The Sharjah Institute for Heritage presented a collection of specialized publications focused on cultural heritage. It also highlighted its efforts to protect intangible heritage and pass traditional knowledge to younger generations. Visitors experienced authentic Emirati culture through traditional hospitality, crafts, and folk performances.
Emirati craftswomen demonstrated traditional skills connected to the local environment. These live presentations gave visitors a closer look at the UAE’s rich heritage. The Sharjah National Folk Arts Troupe also performed Al-Ayyala, Al-Liwa, and Al-Nuban, creating a vibrant cultural atmosphere and strengthening ties with international audiences.
According to Dr Abdulaziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, the participation reflects Sharjah’s vision of using heritage as a bridge between cultures. He said the fair provided an important platform for cultural dialogue and the exchange of expertise with international institutions.
The institute’s delegation also held meetings with several Polish organizations, including the Polonika Institute, Poland’s Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, and the National Heritage Board of Poland. Discussions focused on documentation, digitisation, research cooperation, and safeguarding cultural heritage.
This participation was more than a cultural showcase. It marked a practical step toward building long-term partnerships in heritage preservation, research, and community awareness. It also reinforced the UAE’s cultural presence in Europe and highlighted the strength of Sharjah’s cultural project.
