Sharjah is recognizing organizations that excel in crisis communication. The Sharjah Government Communication Award 2026 is inviting entries showcasing innovative strategies that build trust, combat misinformation, and improve public communication during emergencies.

SHARJAH: The Sharjah Government Communication Award (SGCA) has opened submissions for its Best Crisis Communication Strategy category as part of its 13th edition, honoring organizations that have demonstrated exceptional crisis communication through transparency, innovation, and public trust.

Organized by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), the category recognizes government agencies, international organizations and private-sector institutions that have successfully designed and implemented communication strategies to ensure the accurate flow of information during emergencies while strengthening public confidence.

The award underscores the growing importance of strategic communication in helping institutions respond effectively to health, environmental, economic and social crises by minimizing misinformation and supporting informed decision-making.

Communication at the heart of crisis management

Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, said effective communication is a cornerstone of crisis management and plays a critical role in supporting institutions and communities during challenging times.

He said communication extends beyond the rapid dissemination of information, helping raise public awareness, strengthen trust, reduce misinformation and improve institutional readiness to respond to emergencies.

According to Allay, successful crisis communication is measured not only by speed but also by responsible information management, message clarity and the long-term impact of communication strategies on society.

He added that the award aims to spotlight communication models that leverage innovation and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, to improve response times, enhance communication efficiency and deliver accurate information to the public in an increasingly fast-moving media environment.

Recognizing effective crisis responses

The Best Crisis Communication Strategy category welcomes entries covering a wide range of crises, including health emergencies, environmental disasters, economic challenges and social issues that require timely, transparent and responsible public communication.

Judges will evaluate submissions based on the accuracy of information, clarity of messaging, transparency, public awareness initiatives and the effective use of traditional and digital media platforms to engage communities and build public confidence.

The category also recognizes communication plans that address the needs of affected groups while reducing confusion and promoting informed public action during crisis situations.

Entries open until August 31

The Sharjah Government Communication Award is accepting submissions for the category through August 31, 2026. Eligible organizations are invited to submit communication strategies, crisis management plans, public awareness campaigns and digital initiatives that demonstrate excellence in managing the flow of information and fostering trust between institutions and the public.

The 2026 edition of the SGCA features 23 award categories across five main pillars: Government Agencies, International Organizations and the Private Sector; Individual Awards; the Best Innovators Competition in Smart Communication; Jury Awards; and Partner Awards.

The awards continue to reinforce Sharjah’s position as a global hub for communication excellence by celebrating innovative practices that strengthen institutional resilience and enhance engagement with communities during times of crisis.
