Originally from Andhra Pradesh, Sai Karthik Varma Datla earned a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Central Missouri. He worked as a software engineer with AdventHealth in the Kansas City area. Before moving to the US, he was employed by Capgemini and was known for his skills in cloud computing, automation, and software deployment.
The accident happened on Sunday morning near Butler Memorial Airport in Missouri. The aircraft, a Pacific Aerospace 750XL operated by Skydive Kansas City, crashed shortly after take-off. Authorities said the plane climbed to around 100 feet before making a sudden turn and losing power.
Federal investigators reported that all 12 people on board, including the pilot and 11 skydivers, died in the crash. Witnesses said the pilot appeared to be attempting an emergency landing before the aircraft stalled and crashed into a field, where it caught fire.
Sai Karthik Varma Datla had reportedly visited the skydiving center for a recreational jump. Officials have not confirmed whether he was an experienced skydiver or a first-time participant.
