Pakistan to Train Nationals in Soft Skills for Jobs in UAE and Other Countries

Pakistan has launched a nationwide initiative to train its citizens in essential soft skills, aiming to improve their employability in the UAE and other international job markets. The program forms part of a broader strategy to align Pakistan’s workforce with global labor requirements and expand overseas employment opportunities for skilled and semi-skilled workers.

The initiative focuses on developing non-technical competencies such as effective communication, workplace ethics, teamwork, customer service, adaptability, and professional etiquette. Officials said these skills are increasingly valued by employers in the UAE, where diverse, multicultural work environments demand strong interpersonal and communication abilities.

Training will be delivered through government-run vocational institutes and accredited private training centers across Pakistan. The courses will blend classroom instruction with practical simulations that mirror real workplace situations commonly found in the UAE and other destination countries. Participants will also receive guidance on cultural awareness, professional behavior, and employer expectations in overseas markets.

Authorities noted that while many Pakistani workers possess solid technical skills, gaps in soft skills have sometimes limited their success abroad. By addressing this shortfall, the initiative aims to improve job placement rates, enhance long-term employment stability, and strengthen Pakistan’s reputation as a dependable source of skilled manpower for the UAE and beyond.

The program is also expected to support Pakistan’s economy by increasing remittance inflows, a vital source of foreign exchange. Officials emphasized that workers equipped with both technical and soft skills are more likely to secure better-paying, sustainable jobs overseas.

In its initial phase, the training drive will focus on sectors with strong demand in the UAE, including hospitality, retail, healthcare support, construction services, and customer-facing roles. Authorities plan to expand and refine the curriculum based on feedback from UAE employers and international recruitment agencies.

The move reflects Pakistan’s broader effort to modernize workforce development and ensure its labor force remains competitive in a rapidly changing global employment landscape.
