Emirates A380 Wing Inspections Begin After Airbus Orders Urgent Safety Checks Following Crack Concerns Across Fleet

Emirates A380 wing inspections

Emirates A380 wing inspections will begin within the next 48 hours after Emirates confirmed it will follow urgent safety checks ordered by European aviation regulators. The inspections come after cracks were found in the wing structure of some Airbus A380 aircraft during routine maintenance. The airline said every required inspection and repair will be completed before any affected aircraft returns to service.

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) issued an emergency airworthiness directive on June 22. It ordered inspections of the A380 wing mid-spar structure after cracks were discovered. Emirates said it is working closely with Airbus and aviation authorities to reduce any impact on flight schedules. The airline has not confirmed how many of its aircraft are affected.

Reports say that 15 of the 16 Airbus A380 aircraft identified for inspection are operated by Emirates, while the remaining aircraft belongs to Qantas. The airline has not officially verified these numbers.

Emirates A380 wing inspections are part of wider efforts to maintain the highest aviation safety standards. The Airbus A380 entered commercial service in 2007 and remains one of the world’s largest passenger aircraft. Although Airbus stopped producing the aircraft in 2021, it continues to serve major long-haul routes.

Airbus is also facing stricter regulatory oversight on other aircraft models. Recent safety measures include additional maintenance checks for some A330 aircraft and updates to the A320 family after concerns linked to flight control systems.

Emirates A380 wing inspections highlight the airline’s commitment to passenger safety and compliance with international aviation rules. Emirates said all necessary work will be completed before any affected aircraft is released back into service.
