The order was passed by Justice Tushar Rao Gedela on April 29. The court issued an ex parte ad interim injunction. It restrained several social media accounts and websites. These platforms were selling items like T-shirts and posters using Arjun Kapoor’s identity. They were also promoting events without approval.
The court clearly said no permission was given by the actor. It added that such actions are a violation of personality rights. It also directed platforms like Google and Meta to remove the content. They must also share basic details of the users behind these accounts.
Kapoor’s lawyer, Pravin Anand, told the court about deepfake videos and explicit content. The court called such content vulgar and harmful. It said this could damage the actor’s image badly.
The court noted that personality rights are valuable. It allowed Kapoor to take further action if new misuse appears. The next hearing is on October 10.
