The Arabic Children’s Literature Award has been officially launched for its 18th edition at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair. This global platform highlights creativity in Arabic books for young readers. The announcement was made with strong participation from cultural leaders, including Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi.
The Arabic Children’s Literature Award focuses on five key categories. These include Early Childhood, Picture Books, Chapter Books, Young Adult, and Non-Fiction. Each category targets specific age groups, from newborns up to 18 years old. The total prize pool is Dh1.2 million, making it one of the most valuable awards in this field.
This award plays an important role in supporting Arabic authors, illustrators, and publishers. It helps bring high-quality stories to young readers. Organizers say the goal is to promote creativity while reflecting Arab culture and identity. The event also showed a strong presence from UAE publishing institutions.
Submissions are open to Arabic-language books published in the last five years. Entries must be original and cannot have won previous awards. Digital submissions are accepted, but they must come through registered publishers. The deadline for entries is August 31.
Winners of the Arabic Children’s Literature Award will be announced at the opening of the Sharjah International Book Fair 2026. This gives authors global recognition and a chance to reach wider audiences.
This initiative continues to grow as a major platform for Arabic storytelling. It connects creators worldwide and strengthens the future of children’s literature in the Arab world.
