Sharjah Ruler Approves Jobs for 1,000 senior citizens under a new part-time work system across Sharjah Government departments. The move aims to help older residents stay active, connected and financially supported.

The system will offer flexible work based on each person’s ability. Senior citizens can work for one or two hours a day. Another option allows them to work three non-consecutive days each week.
Flexible Work With Support
The Sharjah Ruler said the programme is designed for older people who may spend most of their time at home. The jobs will be simple and should not cause physical strain.
One example is checking visitor tickets at Sharjah museums. Senior employees may also receive transport to and from work through vehicles provided by their workplace.
The programme aims to help senior citizens interact with people and remain involved in society. It also provides them with an income while supporting a more active lifestyle.
More Jobs And Salary Increases
Sharjah Ruler Approves Jobs as part of a wider employment plan for 2026. The emirate has already employed 1,800 people in government entities between January 5 and September 3.
Another 1,200 government jobs are expected to be filled during the remaining months of 2026. This will help Sharjah reach its target of 3,000 new positions.
The Sharjah Government also approved higher social support for 1,473 beneficiaries. Each will receive an additional Dh3,375.
Pay rises were also approved for 3,270 senior-grade government employees. Higher pension payments were approved for 1,470 Sharjah Government retirees.
A Wider Government Support Plan
The approved increases will cover Sharjah Government employees, including centralised and decentralised entities and universities. The measures reflect Sharjah’s focus on employment, social support and the well-being of its senior citizens.
