Six killed in Oman after a major multi-vehicle crash in Samail on Friday night. The accident also injured 18 people, including eight who are in critical condition, according to the Royal Oman Police.

The serious road accident happened on Sultan Thuwaini bin Said Road in the Wadi Bani Rawaha area of Samail. The road leads towards Muscat. A truck and several other vehicles were involved in the collision.

The Royal Oman Police first issued an alert about the crash through its General Directorate of Traffic. At that time, police warned motorists about the accident and asked drivers approaching the area to take extra care.

Six deaths confirmed by Oman police

On Saturday morning, the Royal Oman Police confirmed that six people had died in the accident. A total of 18 people were injured. Eight of those injured were reported to be in critical condition.

The accident caused heavy traffic congestion on the road. Emergency teams and authorities worked at the scene following the collision.

The accident site was later identified as the Al Mahal area of Samail. Police advised motorists travelling towards Muscat to reduce their speed and remain alert.

Cause of crash remains unclear

The exact cause of the collision has not yet been publicly revealed by the Royal Oman Police. Authorities have not provided further details about what led to the truck and several vehicles being involved in the crash.

Motorists were also asked to follow traffic instructions while travelling through the affected area. The authorities’ response focused on managing the accident scene and reducing disruption to traffic.

Governorate offers condolences

South Al Batinah Governorate expressed condolences to the families and relatives of those who lost their lives. It also wished the injured people a quick recovery.

The Samail crash has once again highlighted the need for careful driving on busy roads. Drivers travelling through accident-affected areas are advised to slow down and follow instructions from traffic authorities.
