Indian Passport Renewal UAE: Direct Appointments, Higher Fees, and What Expats Must Know

Indian Passport Renewal UAE

Indian Passport Renewal UAE has changed after a major shift in the country’s passport and consular service system. Indian expats must now book appointments directly with the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the Consulate General of India in Dubai. The new process follows a legal dispute over the outsourcing contract for passport services.

The change began after the previous service providers stopped operating on June 30, 2026. A new company was selected to take over, but rival firms challenged the tender process in the Delhi High Court. The court ordered the tender to be conducted again within one month, delaying the planned transition.

Because of this, the Indian missions in the UAE are now handling passport, visa, and attestation services themselves. Indian Passport Renewal UAE appointments can only be booked through the official online portal. Users must create an account, verify their email, choose the relevant mission, and select an available time slot. New appointment slots are released daily at 8pm for the following day.

Passport renewal fees have also increased. A normal 36-page passport now costs Dh450, while the Tatkaal service costs Dh900. A 60-page passport costs Dh630 under the normal category and Dh1,080 under Tatkaal.

Applicants should also note that the Indian Consulate in Dubai is temporarily closed from July 17 to July 19 because of road maintenance. Emergency walk-ins remain limited at the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

Until the fresh tender process is completed, Indian Passport Renewal UAE services will continue to be managed directly by the Indian missions. Indian expats are advised to regularly check the official appointment portal for updates and book their slots as early as possible.
