Moin Khan Urges Authorities To Act
Moin Khan, a key member of Pakistan’s 1992 World Cup-winning team, shared an emotional video message on Saturday. He appealed to the Pakistan government and Adiala jail authorities to look after Imran Khan’s health.
Moin said Imran’s right to medical care should be respected. He also highlighted Imran’s contribution to Pakistan cricket.
The former wicketkeeper-batter said Imran had given a lot to Pakistan cricket. He added that players from his era learned many important lessons from their former captain.
Appeal To Fellow Cricketers
Moin Khan also made a direct request to other cricketers. He urged them to publicly support Imran Khan and raise their voices about his situation.
His appeal comes as concerns over Imran’s health continue to grow. Imran, 73, has been held at Adiala jail in Rawalpindi since 2023 after being convicted in corruption cases. He has denied the charges.
Reports about his health have increased concerns about whether he is receiving adequate medical treatment.
Supreme Court Orders Medical Examination
Pakistan’s Supreme Court recently ordered that Imran be taken to hospital for medical examinations. He was later taken to hospital before being returned to prison.
The issue has also received attention from former international cricketers. A group of 22 former captains from countries including India, England, the West Indies and New Zealand wrote to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
They called for proper healthcare and constitutional safeguards for Imran. An earlier appeal was also made by 14 former captains in February.
Greg Chappell Raises Health Concerns
Former Australia captain Greg Chappell has also expressed concern about Imran’s condition. He said Imran did not appear to be in good health in a recent video.
Chappell recalled meeting Imran six years ago and described him then as strong and robust. He said the former captain now appeared to be struggling physically.
Moin Khan’s latest appeal adds to the growing calls for medical care for Imran Khan. It also puts further attention on the former Pakistan captain’s health and treatment in prison.
