The Ajman Etihad Rail Passenger Network is set to expand as Etihad Rail plans to add Ajman to the UAE’s national passenger railway. The company has invited bids for a design-and-build contract covering civil works, track construction, a passenger station, and related infrastructure. Contractors have until 27 July 2026 to submit proposals.
This project will make Ajman the fifth emirate connected to the passenger rail system. The planned line will branch from the existing freight railway and extend to Hamriyah in Ajman. The move brings the network closer to Umm Al-Quwain and Ras Al-Khaimah, which are not yet included in the passenger rollout despite being on the freight corridor.
The Ajman Etihad Rail Passenger Network is part of the UAE’s wider plan to build an integrated and sustainable transport system. Etihad Rail began passenger operations on 30 June 2026 with services between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. The railway was created to improve travel between cities, ports, and industrial areas across the country.
Passenger services will expand in phases. From 30 September 2026, trains will also serve Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Al-Dhaid, and Fujairah. Services will later reach Al-Dhafra in December 2026 and Sharjah in March 2027. Tickets are already available for the Abu Dhabi–Fujairah route through Etihad Rail’s official booking platforms.
The Ajman Etihad Rail Passenger Network highlights the UAE’s long-term vision for better connectivity and economic growth. While Etihad Rail has not officially confirmed the Ajman project, the tender shows clear progress toward expanding passenger rail across more emirates. If completed, the extension could support future railway links to the remaining Northern Emirates and strengthen the country’s transport network.
