The UAE has announced that Eid Al Fitr prayers will be held exclusively in mosques, with authorities banning gatherings in open prayer grounds, while forecasters predict rain and pleasant weather conditions during the Eid holidays.
The General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat confirmed that prayers will be confined to mosques nationwide as part of safety measures to protect worshippers.
Eid prayers restricted to mosques
In coordination with local authorities, including Dubai and Sharjah’s Islamic affairs departments, officials said that no Eid prayers will be held on open-air grounds or in public spaces this year.
- Authorities urged worshippers to:
- Arrive early at mosques
- Follow safety guidelines
- Avoid overcrowding
The decision, according to officials, is part of broader precautionary steps to ensure a safe and organized Eid for residents.
Rain, clouds expected during Eid
Meanwhile, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has forecast partly cloudy to cloudy weather, with a chance of rainfall across different parts of the UAE during the Eid period.
- Weather conditions from Thursday to Monday are expected to be:
- Moderately warm during the day
- Pleasant at night and early morning
- Intermittent rainfall with varying intensity
Temperatures are also likely to drop slightly, especially on Sunday and Monday, adding to the cooler Eid atmosphere.
Wind and sea conditions
The NCM said winds will range from light to moderate but may become active at times, causing:
Reduced visibility due to dust in open areas
Rough sea conditions occasionally in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman
Temperature outlook
Coastal areas: 24–30°C (max), 19–23°C (min)
Inland areas: 27–34°C (max), 14–20°C (min)
Mountain regions: 17–24°C (max), 11–16°C (min)
A cautious but pleasant Eid ahead
With safety measures in place for prayers and cooler weather expected, authorities are urging residents to plan accordingly and stay updated with official guidelines.
The combination of controlled mosque gatherings and favorable weather conditions is expected to ensure a safe and comfortable Eid celebration across the UAE.
