Messi Club Ownership Dream: Why He Prefers Being Owner Over Coach

Messi club ownership dream

Messi club ownership dream is becoming clearer as the football legend plans life after playing. Lionel Messi, the Argentine superstar, told Luzu TV that he prefers being a club owner rather than a coach when he retires.

The 38-year-old forward signed a three-year contract extension with Inter Miami in October, keeping him at the MLS club until 2028. Messi said he enjoys management but coaching is not his goal. “If I have to decide, I would like to be an owner,” he said. He wants to grow a club from the bottom and give young players a chance to shine.

Messi is already part-owner of Uruguay’s fourth-division club Deportivo LSM, co-owned with Inter teammate Luis Suarez. Suarez explained that the club started as a family dream in 2018 and now has over 3,000 members. Messi also has a future minority ownership stake in Inter Miami as part of his current contract.

This season, Messi won the MLS Golden Boot after scoring 29 goals and providing 19 assists. His 48 total goal contributions almost matched the league record set by Carlos Vela in 2019. He also became the first player in MLS history to win back-to-back MVP awards.

Fans see Messi’s club ownership dream as a natural step. His success on the field may soon translate into building a strong club off the field. He hopes to provide tools and opportunities for young players and create an important team from scratch.

Messi’s focus on management, ownership, and giving back to the sport shows his vision beyond just playing. Many believe his next chapter could make him as influential as he is on the pitch.
