Sharjah, UAE — Air Arabia has marked another major milestone in its international expansion by launching daily nonstop flights between Sharjah and Munich, making the Bavarian capital the airline’s first direct German destination from Sharjah.
The new route, which became operational this week, is operated using Air Arabia’s next-generation Airbus A320neo, offering passengers enhanced comfort, fuel efficiency, and an improved onboard experience. The launch underscores the airline’s continued success in strengthening air connectivity between the UAE and key European markets.
The inaugural flight was welcomed at Munich Airport with a special ceremony attended by senior officials from Air Arabia and airport management, reflecting the strategic importance of the new service for both carriers and the wider GCC–Europe travel market.
Commenting on the launch, Adel Al Ali, Group Chief Executive Officer of Air Arabia, said the Munich route represents a significant step forward in the airline’s European growth strategy.
“We are pleased to commence our new nonstop service to Munich directly from Sharjah. This addition further strengthens our growing footprint across Europe and reflects our commitment to unlocking key destinations while offering our customers greater choice and convenience,” he said.
Oliver Dersch, Senior Vice President Aviation at Munich Airport, welcomed the new service, saying it would expand travel options and reinforce Munich’s role as a key gateway between Europe and the GCC.
The Munich service adds to Air Arabia’s rapidly expanding European network from the UAE, which already includes destinations such as Vienna, Athens, Milan Bergamo, Krakow, and Warsaw Chopin, with Warsaw Modlin and Prague set to join the network soon.
Industry analysts view the Munich launch as another indicator of Air Arabia’s strong post-pandemic growth, as the low-cost carrier continues to scale its network, modernize its fleet, and position Sharjah as a competitive aviation hub connecting Europe, the Middle East, and beyond.
