Asia Cup 2025: Axar Patel Doubtful for India’s Super Four Clash Against Pakistan After Head Injury

Axar Patel doubtful fitness

Axar Patel doubtful fitness is a concern for India ahead of their Super Four clash against Pakistan in Asia Cup 2025. The all-rounder suffered a head injury while fielding against Oman in Abu Dhabi. The incident happened in the 15th over of Oman’s innings when Hammad Mirza mistimed a shot. Patel attempted the catch, dropped the ball, and hit his head on the turf. He walked off the field immediately.

India’s fielding coach T Dilip said Patel “looks fine,” but with less than 48 hours before the India-Pakistan match, his recovery time is limited. If Patel cannot play, India may have just two frontline spinners — Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy. His absence would reduce India’s spin options and affect the team’s balance.

Patel had also contributed with the bat, scoring 26 off 13 balls against Oman. To cover for him, standby players Washington Sundar and Riyan Parag could be included in the XI if required. During the Oman match, Patel bowled only one over, conceding four runs, as India rotated their bowlers in the 21-run victory.

India and Pakistan will face off in Dubai for their first Super Four match. Axar Patel doubtful fitness remains a key talking point, as it could influence India’s strategy and lineup. Fans are closely watching his recovery and the team’s final squad announcement.
