“Pakistan Idol” Returns After a Decade with Star-Studded Judges and Multi-Network Broadcast

Over a decade after its original run, “Pakistan Idol” is set for a grand revival. Production company MHL Global has secured the rights from Fremantle to bring back the iconic singing competition, which first aired in 2013.

The new season will feature an all-star judging panel including:
• Fawad Khan – acclaimed actor and musician
• Zeb Bangash – celebrated singer
• Rahat Fateh Ali Khan – legendary qawwali artist
• Bilal Maqsood – renowned musician from Strings

The original season, which concluded in April 2014 with Zamad Baig crowned as the winner, was judged by Bushra Ansari, Hadiqa Kiani, and Ali Azmat. It became a nationwide sensation, receiving over 1 million votes in its finale.

Initially, Geo TV had acquired the Idol format in 2007 but faced production delays, eventually launching the show six years later as the 50th international adaptation of the hit British series “Pop Idol.”

For its highly anticipated comeback, MHL Global is adopting an ambitious multi-platform strategy. For the first time in the history of the global “Idol” franchise. The show will air simultaneously on five different television networks, ensuring it reaches audiences across Pakistan’s diverse regions and languages.
