New Dubai-Sharjah intercity bus service to launch in May

Starting Friday, May 2, a new bus will link Dubai-Sharjah. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) confirmed the update on Monday.

The new Route E308 will connect Stadium Bus Station in Dubai to Al Jubail Bus Station in Sharjah. Each one-way trip costs Dh12, making it an affordable commute option.

Changes to Existing Bus Routes

In addition to the new route, several bus services will see changes from May 2. These changes aim to improve convenience and efficiency for daily commuters.

  • Route 17: Now ends at Baniyas Square Metro Station, replacing Al Sabkha Bus Station.
  • Route 24: Re-routed for better coverage within Al Nahda 1 area.
  • Route 44: Now includes a stop at Dubai Festival City via Al Rebat Street.
  • Route 56: Extended to reach the DWC Staff Village, offering more accessibility.
  • Routes 66 & 67: A new stop added at the Al Ruwayah Farm area.
  • Route 32C: Service shortened; passengers can use Route F27 to reach Al Satwa.
  • Route C26: Now stops at Max Metro Land Side Bus Stop 2, instead of Al Jafiliya Bus Station.
  • Route E16: Final stop shifted to Union Bus Station, replacing Al Sabkha.
  • Route F12: Now re-routed via Kuwait Street, with a curtailed section.
  • Route F27: Bus stop moved to Max Metro Land Side Bus Stop 2.
  • Route F47: Modified routes within Jebel Ali Industrial Area for better coverage.
  • Route F54: Extended to serve the new JAFZA South labour camp.
  • Route X92: Bus stop relocated to Max Metro Land Side Bus Stop 1.

RTA’s Focus on Connectivity

Adel Shakeri, Director of Planning and Business Development at RTA, highlighted the authority’s focus on improving public transportation. He noted that the RTA is committed to integrating buses with other transport options, such as metro and tram services.

Moreover, these updates are part of a wider plan to encourage residents to choose public transport over private vehicles.
