His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, arrived in Muscat on Thursday. This visit marks an important step in strengthening the deep-rooted relationship between the UAE and Oman.
Upon arrival at the Royal Airport, His Highness was warmly welcomed by Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court. He was accompanied by a high-level delegation. The delegation included Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Book Authority, and several top officials from Sharjah.
During his visit, the Ruler of Sharjah will meet with His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. He will also attend key events at the Muscat International Book Fair. These engagements highlight the growing cultural cooperation between the two countries.
Later, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq received Sheikh Dr. Sultan at Al Alam Palace. The Omani leader warmly welcomed his guest and expressed admiration for the strong UAE-Oman relationship. He emphasized the historical and cultural connections shared by both nations.
In response, Sheikh Dr. Sultan conveyed greetings from UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He also wished continued progress and prosperity for the Omani leadership and people. The meeting reflected mutual respect and a shared vision for regional growth.
Sultan Haitham praised Sheikh Dr. Sultan’s cultural efforts and his role in preserving Arab identity. He also commended the Ruler’s latest historical publication, The Portuguese in the Sea of Oman, calling it a valuable academic contribution. The book documents events between 1497 and 1757.
Sharjah ruler expresses gratitude
Sheikh Dr. Sultan expressed sincere gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality. He also acknowledged the rapid development underway in Oman under Sultan Haitham’s leadership. Their meeting further strengthened cultural and diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Key officials from both sides attended the meeting. From Oman, Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi and Dr. Hamad bin Saeed Al Aufi were present. From the UAE, top cultural and diplomatic figures accompanied the Ruler of Sharjah.
After concluding his official engagements, Sheikh Dr. Sultan departed Muscat. He was seen off by Sayyid Khalid and UAE Ambassador Mohammed bin Nakhira Al Dhaheri. The visit underscored the importance of continued collaboration between Sharjah and Oman.
