David Warner began his Pakistan Super League (PSL) career on a high note as Karachi Kings pulled off a historic six-wicket win over Multan Sultans. The thrilling encounter at National Bank Stadium featured one of the most dramatic chases in PSL history, as Karachi chased down a massive 235-run target.
Batting first, Multan Sultans posted a formidable 234-3. Skipper Mohammad Rizwan led the way with a superb unbeaten 105 off 63 balls, his second PSL century. He paced the innings smartly, finding boundaries at regular intervals. Michael Bracewell provided late fireworks, smashing 44 runs from just 17 deliveries to push the total past 230.
In response, Karachi Kings faced early pressure, slipping to 79-4 inside nine overs. The game looked heavily tilted in Multan’s favor. However, James Vince and Khushdil Shah turned the tide with a record-breaking fifth-wicket stand. They added 142 runs together—the highest partnership for Karachi in PSL history.
Vince played the innings of a lifetime, scoring 101 off just 43 balls. His knock included 14 fours and four sixes and was the third-fastest century in PSL. Khushdil Shah offered vital support with a well-paced 60 off 37 balls. Karachi reached the target with four balls to spare, completing one of the most memorable comebacks in league history.
The match produced a total of 470 runs, the highest combined score in a match between Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans. Karachi also became the first team in global T20 history to chase a 236+ total after losing three wickets in the powerplay.
Despite the defeat, Rizwan became Multan’s leading six-hitter with 53 sixes. Meanwhile, Adam Milne recorded Karachi’s most expensive bowling figures, conceding 60 runs in four overs. James Vince was named Player of the Match for his heroic performance.
