Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has introduced an advanced AI camera system in sharjah taxi to enhance passenger safety and service quality. This initiative, unveiled during the 10th edition of UAE Innovation Month 2025 under the theme “Power of Innovation,” reflects SRTA’s commitment to modernizing the transport network and improving security measures across the emirate.
Advanced AI Technology for Safer Journeys
Abdulaziz Al Jarwan, Director of SRTA for Transport Affairs, shared with “Sharjah24” that the newly installed smart cameras analyze real-time data on drivers and passengers while monitoring in-vehicle behavior. This technology ensures a safe and comfortable environment for all users. Moreover, the system assists in tracking lost items, allowing passengers to retrieve their belongings quickly and efficiently.
A total of 4,850 Sharjah taxi now feature these AI-powered cameras. In addition, SRTA has also introduced smart boards at public transport stations to provide accurate bus arrival times, improving the overall commuter experience.
Enhancing Public Transport Efficiency
Al Jarwan emphasized that the smart boards deliver precise bus arrival schedules, thereby streamlining mobility across different areas of the emirate. This enhancement aims to improve public transport accessibility and ensure a seamless travel experience for residents and visitors.
Driving Digital Transformation
The AI camera initiative aligns with Sharjah’s vision for digital transformation and the increasing adoption of artificial intelligence across various service sectors. By integrating advanced technologies, SRTA reinforces its dedication to providing safe, reliable, and efficient transport services while simultaneously supporting Sharjah’s broader goals for technological innovation in public infrastructure.
