Sushant Singh Rajput case: Father seeks justice

The Bombay High Court will hear a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on February 19, seeking a deeper investigation into the deaths of actor Sushant Singh Rajput and his former manager, Disha Salian.

Additionally, the PIL demands the arrest and questioning of Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aditya Thackeray regarding the mysterious circumstances surrounding the two deaths.

Recently, in an interaction with ANI, KK Singh, the late actor’s father, expressed hope for justice under Maharashtra’s new government.

“I hope the court’s decision will be fair, and hopefully, it will come soon. We trusted the CBI to deliver justice, but it failed to act promptly. Now that the case is in court, there is hope for a just outcome. I also believe the new government will handle things properly,” said KK Singh.

Furthermore, reflecting on the emotional toll of losing his son, he emphasized his belief that Sushant did not die by suicide.

“It has been a painful five years. He was my only son, and his loss has been unbearable. We have heard allegations involving MLA Aditya Thackeray, but the truth will come out in court. I still believe that Sushant could not have taken his own life,” he added.

Earlier, on June 14, 2020, Sushant Singh Rajput, aged 34, was found dead at his Bandra residence. His death sparked widespread controversy, eventually leading to an official investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

According to the postmortem report, conducted at Mumbai’s Cooper Hospital, the cause of death was asphyxia due to hanging.

Meanwhile, the PIL was filed by Rashid Khan Pathan, President of the Supreme Court and High Court Litigants Association of India, who is pushing for further inquiries into the case.

Sushant, on the other hand, began his career as a theatre artist after leaving engineering college. In 2008, he transitioned to television and later became a successful Bollywood actor.

Notably, his Bollywood debut came with Kai Po Che, but he achieved major stardom with M.S. Dhoni – The Untold Story, a biopic on India’s cricket legend.

Moreover, Sushant’s final theatrical release was Chhichhore in 2019, which became a box-office hit. His last film, Dil Bechara, directed by Mukesh Chhabra, premiered on OTT platforms in 2020, a month after his death.

With the upcoming Bombay High Court hearing, hopes for clarity and justice in Sushant Singh Rajput’s case continue to grow.
