Abu Dhabi offers marriage loans (here’s how to apply)

The Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority (SSA) has introduced the Marriage Loan initiative, a significant part of the Abu Dhabi Family Wellbeing Strategy and the Emirati Family Growth Programme.

This initiative aims to improve the quality of life for families, youth, and parents in the UAE.

The Marriage Loan offers an interest-free loan of up to Dh150,000 to eligible newly married UAE Nationals who are employed and hold an Abu Dhabi family book. This financial support aims to provide a secure foundation for new marriages.

Promoting Family Stability

Recognizing the importance of strong and stable families for community development, the initiative encourages young people to marry in line with UAE’s heritage and traditions. Abdulla Al Ameri, Director General of SSA, emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening family bonds and fostering population growth among citizens.

Strengthening Social Bonds

The initiative aims to enhance family cohesion and social bonds, ensuring that soon-to-be-married individuals can start their families with financial stability. Ahmed Al Azeezi, Executive Director of the Social Support Applications Sector at SSA, highlighted the initiative’s alignment with efforts to reinforce Abu Dhabi’s social care system.

Eligibility and Application

The Marriage Loan is available to newly married UAE Nationals, where the husband must hold a Family Book issued in Abu Dhabi and be at least 21 years old, and the wife must be at least 18. The husband’s monthly income must be less than Dh60,000, and applications must be submitted through the Medeem Digital Platform. SSA will announce application channels and required documentation, with applications starting in early September 2024.

This initiative is expected to significantly contribute to the goals of the Abu Dhabi Family Wellbeing Strategy by encouraging young Emiratis to marry, have children, and build stable families.
