UAE issues alert over CrowdStrike software update

The UAE’s Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) issued a cautionary alert on Friday concerning the use of CrowdStrike software.

The announcement comes amidst widespread outages affecting major airlines and banks globally.

The TDRA highlighted a technical defect in the latest CrowdStrike software update, which could potentially disrupt electronic systems of institutions using the software. Users have been strongly advised against performing any updates or downloads until the issue is resolved.

“We inform you that there is a technical defect in the CrowdStrike software update that may affect the electronic systems of the institutions that use it,” stated the TDRA in an official post.

The regulatory authority reassured that it is closely monitoring the situation to ensure swift resolution and minimize impact.

Organizations and users relying on CrowdStrike software are urged to remain vigilant and await further instructions before proceeding with any software updates.

The TDRA’s proactive measures aim to prevent any adverse effects on UAE’s digital infrastructure and maintain operational stability during this period of global technical disruptions.
