Sharjah Police Academy

Sharjah Police Academy has launched the sixth edition of its Scientific Research Award with a total prize fund of Dh600,000. The award encourages innovative studies that help improve security services and prepare for future challenges. Registration opened on July 13, while research papers can be submitted until October 11. Winners will be announced in December.

The Sharjah Police Academy award focuses on important areas such as artificial intelligence, cybercrime, criminal investigations, community security, disaster management and future security. Cash prizes of Dh50,000, Dh15,000 and Dh10,000 will be given to the top three winners in each category. Research papers approved for publication will also receive a Dh5,000 incentive.

Major General Dr Mohammed Khamis Al Othmani said the award has become an important platform for researchers from the UAE and many other countries. He added that the initiative supports practical research that helps security organisations solve modern challenges and improve public safety.

The award includes three categories: Strategic Leadership and Institutional Excellence, Forensic Sciences, and Sustainability and Community Security. It is open to organisations, individual researchers, students, educational institutions and police employees. Joint research is also allowed under specific conditions.

The previous edition received more than 500 research submissions, with selected studies helping improve security practices in Sharjah. The academy said all entries will go through a strict scientific review to ensure originality, quality and practical value. Researchers can register through the academy’s official website.
