The Sharjah Poetry House hosted a special poetry evening on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. The event brought together poets from Egypt, Jordan, Sudan and Oman. It celebrated Arabic poetry and highlighted Sharjah’s strong support for culture and literature.
Egyptian poet Dr Jaafar Ahmed Hamdy, Jordanian poet Hassan Jalanbo, Sudanese poet Dr Manahil Fathi and Omani poet Ibrahim Al Salmi took part in the evening. Their participation created a diverse gathering of Arab poetic voices.
The event was attended by poet Mohammed Abdullah Al Breiki, director of the Poetry House. A large audience of critics, poets and poetry lovers also joined the event. Students and members of the Al Qasimia University community were present as well.
Dr Bahaa Al Din Dandis from Al Qasimia University moderated the evening. In his opening remarks, he praised Sharjah’s cultural role and its commitment to literature and the Arabic language.
He also expressed gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. He highlighted the ruler’s role in supporting culture, knowledge, literature and creative communities.
The Sharjah Poetry House continues to provide a platform for poets and cultural voices from across the Arab world. Events like this also strengthen cultural exchange and encourage appreciation for Arabic poetry.
At the end of the evening, Mohammed Al Breiki honoured the participating poets and the event moderator.
