Samay said he became suspicious when his latest episode crossed more than 53 million views but did not receive a similar number of likes. He then researched the change and claimed that YouTube now counts a click as a view, even if a person watches the video for only a second.
Samay Raina Questions YouTube Views
According to Samay, the change makes view counts less meaningful. He compared the new system with the earlier method, under which watching a YouTube video for around 30 seconds was counted as a view.
He strongly criticised the update and called it a very bad change. Samay also said that views may now look impressive on a feed without showing how many people actually watched the content properly.
The comedian expressed particular disappointment because his latest episode had performed extremely well. He said he had been happy about the record-breaking numbers before learning about the new view-count system.
India’s Got Latent Episode Crosses 53 Million Views
Samay’s latest India’s Got Latent episode featured internet sensation Orry, veteran actor Archana Puran Singh, and comedians Nishant Suri and Sharon Verma.
The episode quickly became the most-watched episode of the latest season. It crossed the 53 million-view mark on YouTube.
Samay also shared a ranking of the season’s episodes on Instagram. The second-most-viewed episode featured Alia Bhatt and Sharvari as guests.
Samay Raina Says Views Mean Less Now
The Samay Raina YouTube Update has raised questions about how audiences and creators should understand YouTube view numbers.
Samay argued that a genuine view should represent someone actually watching the content rather than simply clicking on it. He described a brief click as a glance rather than a proper view.
His comments come after his latest episode achieved major numbers on the platform. The comedian now believes that changes to YouTube’s counting system could make large view figures less useful for measuring genuine audience engagement.
