Etihad Emirati Airport Trainees are getting international airport experience for the first time through a new summer training programme. Seven UAE Nationals will work at Etihad Airways stations in Copenhagen, Paris, Phuket, and Kuala Lumpur. These airports were chosen because they handle many passengers during the busy summer season. The programme helps trainees build practical skills in real airport operations.
The trainees first complete their foundation training at Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi. They learn through classroom lessons and hands-on work. Their training includes check-in, boarding, baggage handling, transfer services, arrivals, and airport supervision. They also gain knowledge of network operations and aircraft dispatch.
The overseas placement allows the trainees to use their skills in different countries. They work with Etihad airport teams and experience different passenger needs, cultures, and airport systems. This helps them understand how international airport operations work while improving their professional skills.
Captain Majed Al Marzouqi, Chief Operations & Guest Officer at Etihad Airways, said these assignments help young Emiratis gain valuable experience and represent the UAE with professionalism and strong values. The programme also encourages knowledge sharing with international teams.
Etihad Emirati Airport Trainees are part of the airline’s wider Emiratisation strategy. The goal is to create long-term aviation careers for UAE Nationals while supporting Etihad’s growing global network. According to the airline, many Emiratis who completed similar career pathways now manage operations across Europe, East Asia, the GCC, and North Africa.
This new international training programme highlights Etihad Airways’ commitment to developing local talent and preparing future aviation leaders through global experience.
