Abu Dhabi to Host 11th World Assembly of Religions for Peace in 2027, First Time in Gulf Region

Abu Dhabi World Assembly will bring one of the world’s most important interfaith events to the United Arab Emirates in 2027. Abu Dhabi has been selected to host the 11th World Assembly of Religions for Peace, marking the first time the gathering will be held in the Gulf region. The announcement was made during the 2026 International Council Meeting of Religions for Peace in Mauritius.

The selection highlights the UAE’s strong commitment to tolerance, coexistence, and global peace. It also reflects growing international confidence in the country’s efforts to promote dialogue among different religions and cultures. The event supports the UAE’s vision of building understanding and cooperation between people around the world.

The Abu Dhabi World Assembly is expected to attract thousands of participants, including senior religious leaders, policymakers, academics, and representatives of international organizations. Delegates from more than 120 countries and over 90 religious and philosophical councils are expected to attend the event.

The gathering will focus on major global issues such as armed conflicts, extremism, hate speech, poverty, climate change, and artificial intelligence. Leaders will discuss practical solutions and develop partnerships that support peace and stability worldwide.

The event is also a recognition of the efforts of Shaykh Abdullah bin Bayyah and the UAE’s leadership in advancing human fraternity and interfaith dialogue. Abu Dhabi will serve as a global meeting place where people of different faiths can work together for the common good.

The Abu Dhabi World Assembly will further strengthen the emirate’s position as a leading center for tolerance, dialogue, and peacebuilding. Hosting this prestigious event in 2027 is another milestone in the UAE’s growing role in promoting international cooperation and shared human values.
