UAE biometric data scams are targeting Indian nationals with fake offers for visa, passport, employment and other government-related services. The Consulate General of India in Dubai and the Northern Emirates has warned Indian expats to remain cautious.

The warning comes after reports that several Indian nationals, especially blue-collar workers, were approached by fraudulent agents. These individuals claimed they could help with visa regularisation, emergency certificates, exit permits, Emirates IDs and jobs.
Scammers Asking For Sensitive Data
According to the advisory, scammers may ask victims to provide their passports, Emirates IDs and biometric information. This can include face, eye and fingerprint scans.
Fraudsters may claim that these details are needed to complete official procedures. However, sharing such information with unauthorised people can create serious risks.
The Consulate warned that biometric data and personal documents could potentially be misused for financial activities. Scammers may use stolen information to open bank accounts or obtain loans and credit cards in a victim’s name.
Victims Could Face Financial Problems
Unauthorised financial transactions can leave victims facing debts or other financial obligations. In serious cases, they could also face fines, travel bans or imprisonment, depending on the circumstances.
For this reason, Indian nationals in the UAE should verify the credentials of anyone offering visa, passport, employment or other government-related services.
Where Should Biometric Scans Be Provided?
The Consulate said biometric scans required for services such as exit permits, Outpasses, Emirates IDs or visa regularisation should only be provided at official UAE government facilities and counters.
The Indian Consulate in Dubai and the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi also clarified that they do not require fingerprint, face or eye scans for issuing passports or Emergency Certificates.
Therefore, anyone demanding such biometric information while claiming to represent the Indian Embassy or Consulate should be treated with caution.
