Ajman Hospital Receives Prestigious Global Accreditation
Sheikh Khalifa Medical City–Ajman (SKMCA) has achieved a significant international milestone after receiving the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards International (ACHS International) Centre of Excellence (CoE) recognition for its Women and Children’s Hospital. The award specifically recognizes the hospital’s excellence in obstetrics and genecology and pediatrics, placing it among healthcare institutions that meet internationally recognized standards for quality and patient-centered care.
What Actually Happened?
The announcement was made on 31 July 2026 by the Emirates News Agency (WAM). According to the report, Sheikh Khalifa Medical City–Ajman, which is governed by The Medical Office, a subsidiary of Pure Health, successfully met the strict assessment criteria established by ACHS International.
The Centre of Excellence recognition is awarded only to hospitals that demonstrate outstanding performance in clinical quality, patient safety, governance and continuous improvement. After a comprehensive evaluation of its healthcare systems and patient services, SKMCA’s Women and Children’s Hospital fulfilled these international standards and was officially granted the recognition

The recognition highlights SKMCA’s commitment to providing integrated, evidence-based healthcare for women, mothers, newborns and children across Ajman and the Northern Emirates.
International accreditation of this level confirms that the hospital follows globally accepted clinical practices while maintaining strong patient safety measures and high-quality medical services. He stated that the medical city remains dedicated to delivering the highest standards of care for mothers, newborns and children through strong clinical governance, multidisciplinary teamwork and ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
Quality Improvements Behind the Award
The international recognition was not based on a single achievement but resulted from a series of long-term quality improvement initiatives implemented throughout the hospital.
These included:
* Strengthening clinical governance systems.
