Jon Bon Jovi ended his Madison Square Garden concert early after a sinus infection affected his voice, apologizing to fans and promising to reschedule the interrupted performance.

NEW YORK: Rock legend Jon Bon Jovi cut short his concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Thursday after revealing he had been battling a sinus infection that affected his performance, apologizing to fans and pledging to make up for the interrupted show.
The 64-year-old singer ended the performance after about 90 minutes during the eighth night of Bon Jovi’s nine-show residency at the iconic venue as part of the band’s Forever Tour.
After performing the band’s signature 1986 anthem Livin’ on a Prayer, Bon Jovi addressed the audience with an emotional apology, acknowledging he was unable to continue performing at his usual standard.
“I’m sorry, I’m hurt and you’re not getting the best of me,” he told concertgoers before leaving the stage.
The singer urged fans to keep their tickets, assuring them the band would try to arrange a replacement performance.
“Don’t throw away your ticket stubs. I’m gonna figure something out. Just hold onto it, we’ll figure out how to reschedule,” he said.
Representatives for the band later confirmed the concert had ended early because Bon Jovi had been struggling with a sinus infection.
“The Bon Jovi concert at Madison Square Garden ended after 90 minutes tonight,” the statement said. “Jon Bon Jovi spoke from stage and told fans he has been battling a sinus infection which led to the show’s early ending.”
The statement added that further information regarding the affected performance would be released at a later date.
Fans responded with messages of support across social media, with many praising the singer for putting his health first while expressing hope that the concert would be rescheduled soon.
The Forever Tour marks Bon Jovi’s first major tour since undergoing vocal cord surgery in 2022, a procedure that temporarily cast doubt over his future as a live performer.
In previous interviews, the singer acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding his recovery. Speaking to The Sunday Times in 2024, he said he would rather stop touring than deliver performances below the standard he expected of himself.
More recently, however, Bon Jovi told People magazine that he had fully recovered following an extensive rehabilitation process.
“It was longer than I’d ever expected, but it had to be right. We never lost faith,” he said, adding that the experience had given him a renewed appreciation for living in the present.
The Madison Square Garden residency is scheduled to conclude with its ninth and final performance, although organizers have yet to announce whether Thursday’s shortened concert will be officially rescheduled.
