Millions of UAE residents could soon have a new way to pay as banks begin rolling out the country’s first homegrown payment card. Developed by Al Etihad Payments, a subsidiary of the Central Bank of the UAE, Jaywan is designed to simplify everyday transactions while offering travel benefits, digital payment convenience and stronger payment security.
Everything You Can Do With Jaywan
Jaywan cards can be used for ATM withdrawals, in-store purchases, online shopping and contactless payments, making them suitable for daily spending. The scheme is also expected to support digital wallets such as Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay , allowing residents to pay for groceries, transport, utility bills and other everyday expenses with ease.
Currently available as debit and prepaid cards , Jaywan is expected to introduce credit cards in a future phase . Residents can apply for the card through participating banks as they gradually expand the rollout across the UAE.
More UAE Banks Join the Rollout
The rollout is taking place in phases, with several financial institutions already issuing Jaywan cards . These include First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB), Emirates NBD , Emirates Islamic , Sharjah Islamic Bank,*Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD), CitiBank of Baroda, MBank, Botim and *Al Ansari Exchange . More banks, exchange houses and fintech companies are expected to join the network in the coming months, making the card available to even more residents.
