Sharjah Art Foundation Library has launched a free membership programme for its Reference Library, giving artists, researchers, students and art lovers easier access to thousands of research resources. The new initiative allows members to explore books, exhibition catalogues, digital archives and other materials that support learning and creative work.
The Sharjah Art Foundation Library is located in the Foundation’s Bank Street Building. It has more than 5,000 resources, including art magazines, audiovisual materials, architectural projects and digital archives. The collection also includes rare exhibition catalogues, along with books and journals on history, philosophy, social sciences and cultural studies.
The free membership is open to artists, art practitioners, researchers, university students and anyone interested in art and culture. The Foundation said the library collection will continue to grow alongside its exhibitions, programmes and cultural initiatives. This will help members discover more valuable research materials over time.
Library members can visit from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Thursday. They only need to show their digital membership card to the security staff at the ground floor entrance. The Foundation also plans regular events to introduce members to research support services and learning opportunities.
Members of the Sharjah Art Foundation Library will receive monthly curated recommendations featuring books and digital resources. They can also book one-on-one consultation sessions with the library team and, when needed, other Foundation departments. Additional benefits include access to the Curator’s Shelf, which highlights materials that influenced exhibitions, along with digital scanning support for selected resources, subject to copyright rules.
