Sharjah Warsaw Book Fair became a strong platform for cultural dialogue as Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi spoke at the opening of the Warsaw International Book Fair 2026 in Poland. She said that dialogue between civilisations is now a necessity, not a choice. Her speech inspired many visitors and cultural leaders at the event.
Sheikha Bodour said books help people understand each other with patience, curiosity, and empathy. She added that culture should connect people and build respect between nations. Sharjah attended the fair as the first Arab Guest of Honour. The emirate presented Emirati and Arab culture through exhibitions, workshops, poetry evenings, and discussions.
The Sharjah Warsaw Book Fair programme included more than 35 cultural events across the city. Emirati and Polish writers, artists, and academics joined together to share ideas and creativity. The Sharjah National Band also performed traditional Emirati music in Warsaw.
Sheikha Bodour praised Warsaw as a city shaped by history and culture. She said both Arab and Polish cultures value literature and poetry deeply. Poland’s officials also welcomed Sharjah’s participation and praised the growing cultural ties between the UAE and Poland.
The event, held under the theme “Two Civilisations. One Language of Letters,” highlights Sharjah’s global cultural vision. The fair will continue until May 31 and is expected to strengthen cultural exchange between Europe and the Arab world.
