UAE automates travel ban lifting

The UAE has simplified the process of lifting travel prohibitions, turning it into an automated service that no longer requires any documentation or requests from qualified persons.

This shift is part of the country’s wider “Zero Government Bureaucracy” initiative, which aims to streamline and eliminate superfluous government operations.

Previously, removing a travel ban in the UAE required a series of processes and the submission of many papers. However, under the new system, the procedure is now immediate and does not involve any action from the user.

The Ministry of Justice, in partnership with the Federal Public Prosecutor, has executed this modification, lowering the number of stages from nine to zero and shortening processing time from one working day to instant action.

In a statement on X (previously Twitter), the Ministry of Justice emphasized the importance of these revisions, stating that the new approach represents a substantial shift in UAE government operations.

“The new updates to the [lifting of travel ban] service will play a crucial role in simplifying and reducing government procedures by eliminating unnecessary steps and requirements,” said the minister.

This change is an important part of the UAE’s Zero Bureaucracy initiative, which seeks to improve government efficiency by eliminating at least 2,000 superfluous procedures and cutting the time required for others by half within a year.

The program is meant to produce the world’s simplest, quickest, and most effective government procedures, thus improving the UAE’s worldwide competitiveness and leadership.

By the end of 2024, the initiative’s outcomes will be assessed, and the most effective projects will be acknowledged and honored.

The Zero Bureaucracy initiative reflects a national endeavor to create a fundamental shift in government operations, ensuring that the UAE maintains its leadership in the lack of bureaucracy and in delivering efficient services to its inhabitants and citizens.
