Indian consulate in Dubai to launch Yoga classes

The Indian Consulate in Dubai is rolling out the welcome mat for yoga enthusiasts, with the possibility of regular classes at the consulate itself! This exciting news comes after the success of their upcoming large-scale International Day of Yoga (IDY) event.

Consul General Satish Kumar Sivan hinted at the possibility of ongoing yoga classes, stating, “We’ve been thinking about offering regular yoga sessions here at the Consulate.” This potential addition follows the highly-anticipated IDY celebration happening on June 22nd at the iconic World Trade Centre.

The consulate is gearing up for a massive IDY event, expecting a turnout of around 4,000 people. The event will be held on Saturday, June 22nd, from 5 pm to 7 pm. Those interested can register online or by scanning a QR code.

“We want to invite everyone in the community,” shared Sivan. “Yoga is a traditional Indian practice that benefits people of all backgrounds, and this event is a chance to focus on holistic health.”

This year, the IDY celebration will also include participation from residents of various nationalities residing in the northern emirates, including Sharjah, Ajman, and Ras Al Khaimah. Sivan expressed his confidence that Dubai’s event will be the largest globally.

Registration Recommended to Secure Spot, T-Shirt, and More

While the event is open to the public, registration is highly encouraged. This will allow organizers to manage crowd size, distribute free yoga mats and t-shirts in appropriate sizes, and ensure a smooth entry process.

Focus on Women’s Empowerment

The theme for this year’s IDY is “International Day of Yoga for Women’s Empowerment,” highlighting the importance of women’s well-being. The Consulate General of India plans to incorporate special activities and surprises related to this theme, details of which will be revealed at the event.

“We’re reaching out to women’s groups to encourage their participation,” said Sivan. “Yoga is a fantastic way to promote overall health, and women play a vital role in family well-being. We’re happy to see the focus on women’s empowerment this year.”

Dubai residents interested in unwinding and celebrating yoga can look forward to the upcoming IDY event and the potential for future yoga classes offered by the Indian Consulate.
