In a bid to alleviate traffic congestion, Dubai’s Al Khail Road has undergone significant widening at two crucial locations, resulting in a remarkable 25% reduction in traffic jams.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) spearheaded the widening efforts in Al Jaddaf and Business Bay, marking a pivotal step towards smoother commutes for residents and commuters alike.
At Al Jaddaf, commuters can now enjoy the benefits of an additional lane, specifically designed to enhance traffic flow towards Deira. This expansion has bolstered the road’s capacity by accommodating approximately 2,000 more vehicles per hour, a move applauded by motorists traversing this bustling corridor.
Hamad Al Shehhi, Director of Roads at the Traffic and Roads Agency, underscored the significance of these enhancements, stating, “Al Khail Road serves as a vital artery in Dubai’s transportation network. By adding a new lane in Al Jaddaf, we have substantially increased the road’s capacity, resulting in a tangible reduction in congestion by a quarter.”
Moreover, the entrance to Business Bay has witnessed a significant surface expansion, aimed at streamlining traffic ingress into the area from Al Khail Road. This strategic upgrade not only enhances traffic flow but also amplifies safety measures, particularly for commuters heading in the direction of Abu Dhabi.
Al Shehhi further elaborated on the ongoing efforts to optimize Al Khail Road, revealing, “As part of the Al Khail Road Improvement Project, additional enhancements are slated for several locations along the corridor. These endeavors are poised to culminate in a more efficient and seamless transportation experience for all road users.”
