Preliminary investigations indicate that Dina’s husband shot his wife before attempting to shoot himself. He was transferred to the hospital in critical condition.
Police recovered the weapon used in the crime at the scene. Forensic experts collected spent cartridges and fingerprints. Following orders from the prosecution, a post-mortem examination of the body was conducted.
Dina Alaa’s family was granted permission by the prosecution to bury her yesterday, and she was laid to rest by her relatives.
Investigators in Alexandria are collecting evidence and recording eyewitness statements to uncover the full truth and motives behind the incident.
Meanwhile, under the leadership of club president Engineer Mohamed Farag Amer, Smouha Judo Club expressed deep sorrow over the death of their athlete Dina Alaa.
In an official statement on its website, the club said:
“We accept Allah’s will. Dina Alaa was a talented member of our judo team who has now returned to her Creator. We pray that Allah grants her mercy, places her in Paradise, and gives her family patience.”
The club added that Dina Alaa’s passing is “a great loss not only for Smouha Club but also for the Egyptian sports world. As she held a unique place due to her excellent character and remarkable sporting skills.”
